The Sinking City 2 FAQ
All Questions
What is The Sinking City 2?
The Sinking City 2 is a Lovecraftian survival horror by Frogwares, released on August 18, 2026 for PC (Steam, Epic, GOG), PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. You play diver-detective Calvin Rafferty investigating cases across a flooded 1920s Arkham.
Is The Sinking City 2 open world?
Arkham is a large explorable flooded city traversed on foot and by boat, but it is structured around investigations rather than a sandbox. Districts open up as cases progress, and you can return to explore for collectibles and side investigations.
Does The Sinking City 2 have co-op or multiplayer?
No. The Sinking City 2 is strictly single-player. The only online features are standard platform achievements.
Is The Sinking City 2 on Game Pass?
No. It launched as a paid purchase on all platforms — Standard $49.99, Deluxe $54.99 and Premium $59.99 — with no Game Pass release on any tier.
Do I need to play the first Sinking City?
No. It is a standalone sequel with a new protagonist (Calvin Rafferty instead of Charles Reed). Returning players will catch references to the first game and the wider Frogwares Lovecraft universe, but the story stands on its own.
How long is The Sinking City 2?
Reviewers report roughly 8-12 hours for the campaign, up to about 16 hours if you complete every side investigation and hunt collectibles. The free demo covers about the first hour.
Is there a demo?
Yes. The one-hour Steam Next Fest demo is still available on Steam. It includes the opening investigation - and yes, the demo safe code puzzle is covered on our safe codes page.
Are the safe codes the same for everyone?
Most safes are opened by finding in-world clues rather than entering a fixed number, and some combinations are tied to your playthrough. Our safe codes page lists each safe, where its clue is, and the combination where it is fixed.
