The Sinking City 2 Demo: Length, Safe Code & What Carries Over
The Sinking City 2’s demo predates launch — it appeared for Steam Next Fest — and Frogwares has kept it free on Steam after release. If you’re deciding whether the full game is for you, here’s exactly what it contains.
Demo Facts
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| How long is the demo? | About one hour — the opening investigation |
| Is it still available? | Yes, free on the Steam page |
| Does progress carry over? | No — the full game starts fresh |
| What’s the demo safe code? | 1908 — it’s the Apartment 5 safe from the full game’s Chapter 1 |
What the Demo Covers
The demo drops you into Chapter 1, A New Day: Calvin’s arrival, the investigation loop tutorial, the fuse box puzzle, and the Apartment 5 optional safe. It’s an honest slice — the unmarked navigation and the crafting scarcity are both present, so if the demo’s rhythm clicks, the full game delivers more of exactly that.
The Demo Safe Code
The wall safe in the demo is the same Apartment 5 safe covered on our safe codes page: the code is 1908, learned from the radio store’s history. In the demo as in the full game, it pays out early ammo and a heal — worth opening just to feel the investigation-reward loop.
Demo vs Full Game
The one-hour cut ends before the game opens up: no boat traversal, one district, no Talent tree depth, none of the side investigations. Reviews at launch (79 Metascore, 95% Very Positive on Steam — see our review) credit the mid-game investigation chains as the high point, which the demo only hints at.
